Friday means a few fun facts!
Did you know that tomorrow—-April 11---is National Pet Day?!
Well, it is! The holiday began back in 2006, when Colleen Paige, an individual devoted to animal welfare, decided that she wanted to promote awareness of issues that negatively affect pets, such as shelter overcrowding and animal abuse.
No doubt, if you have a pet or know someone who does, you realize how much animals and their humans can bond! But research tells us that pets can also contribute to overall better health (both physical and mental health) for the people around them. Interacting with pets can even lower cortisol, cholesterol, and blood pressure levels.
If you have pets, be sure to give them an extra shout-out this weekend! And maybe an extra treat or pat on the head too.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Have a great day and please rise for a moment of silence followed by the playing of the national anthem and the pledge of allegiance.
